An article outlining key skiing opportunities and travel. Focused on where and when to enjoy the chance to take to the slopes, this piece is relevant to both the novice and experienced skier. Read on for more information.

Skiing and snowboarding are increasingly popular options when it comes to school trips, holidays and weekend breaks, providing the perfect chance to experience a challenging and glamorous new sport. With the thrill of speeding down a run, expert tuition to ensure good technique and the picturesque views there’s nothing better than a skiing trip for that special treat or rewarding break.

For schools looking to make the most of an end of year trip HTS Total Ski offer efficient and effective options for all ages. With trips to Austria, Switzerland or Italy, there’s choice in abundance with experienced staff and tour leaders ready to take the stress out of organising and arranging the many different aspects of a school break.

In fact HTS Total Ski offer all-inclusive packages that ensure travellers can really enjoy their time on the slopes without the extra worry associated with travel and meal costs. Whilst European tours are a great way to get students involved in learning about different counties and cultures, there’s much to be said for UK travel and holiday options. Here are some options for those looking to stay in the UK;

Slopes of County Durham:

Swinhope Moor in Weardale is a well equipped and alpine-esque destination favoured by many looking to take to the slopes in the UK. A ski resort with both gentle slopes and more challenging and testing runs this is a great place to take the whole family.

Destination Cumbria:

The ski centre at Raise, Helvellyn in Cumbria is a popular and trusted ski destination. Having been around since the 1930’s it boasts a range of famed pistes, including black runs, off-piste runs and runs appropriate for snowboarding. The area is equipped with a button lift and a members hut with welcome heating to provide the perfect stop off point for keen skiers signed up to the club.

Over to Northumberland:

Rather than offering the typical piste options Allenheads in Northumberland offers around 220 metres of open meadows and woodlands with the excellent views of surrounding landscapes. Lifts run to the highest sections with rope tows available and operated by the British Norwegian Ski Club. Although there is no tobogganing, there are plenty of opportunities for skiing and snowboarding.

Mountain views at Glencoe:

When it comes to classic winter snow destinations the Glencoe Mountain Resort located in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the Rannoch Moor is a must. With excellent snowboarding, skiing and sledging options as well as off-piste activities such as climbing, biking and archery, there’s much to be enjoyed here in Scotland.

As this demonstrates the UK has earned its place alongside other well respected European skiing resorts. However, as always, don’t forget to check the webcams, websites and travel information hotlines for regular weather updates.
