Vaping when pregnant or electronic cigarettes have long been touted as a healthy choice when one compares it to regular smoking and it also knows to cut down on smoking. The mere fact is that all these devices still go on to put nicotine on to your body and is not a good choice for a lady who is pregnant.
An e cigarette stands out to be nicotine delivery service. Some of them look like regular cigarettes whereas others assume to be bit futuristic. It contains a battery along with a cartridge and is known to contain a certain dosage of chemicals. The liquid is heated up inside the e cigarette and a vapour is formed when you inhale. Hence the term vaping comes into prominence.
In case of regular cigarette, nicotine to your lungs is delivered by burning tobacco which creates smoke that you inhale. Tobacco is known to contain thousands of chemicals. The vapour from an e cigarette contains nicotine which has serious implications on your pregnancy and may contain traces of chemicals in the form of nickel or chromium that can be harmful for the developing baby.

Misconceptions in relation to safety?
A recent survey conducted points to the situation where women have serious misconceptions about e cigarettes. 41 % of women who are surveyed were of the opinion that e cigarettes and vaping while pregnant were safe. It is only 57 % of women who believed that e cigarettes contained nicotine and only 61 % felt that it can be addictive.
Among the women who were surveyed only 13 % of women had used e cigarettes, but of the ones who used the main reason given by them was that they felt it was safe than the regular form of cigarettes.
The fact is that e cigarettes still put nicotine into your body as well as that of the baby. There is no safe exposure as far as nicotine is concerned. If exposure to nicotine occurs before birth, it has been linked to altered brain structure or function in babies. If there is usage of tobacco products during pregnancy it can increase the chances of miscarriage, sudden infant syndrome or some form of birth defects. Nicotine, be it from regular or electronic cigarettes shows up in the breast milk as well.
In the true sense of the world, no pregnant woman should be a smoker. But we do not live in such a world and many women who smoke do become pregnant. If a woman who smokes and is pregnant then they should stop smoking. This is pertaining to regular or electronic cigarettes.
